What I’ve learned is success is mostly not about attaining fame or money but attaining a personal goal.

To be a successful musician for instance presupposes that you are a good musician though there are many so called artist who have gotten rich and famous with little or no talent. Success therefore presupposes a certain degree of realizing a potential.

So the advice I give people is the same great artists have given me. Think Big but start small. The more you would achieve the more small things matter. And the more you aspire the more small things should matter.

Some people fail because they don’t aim high enough while others fail because they make excuses why what they think isn’t possible. Often people with big dreams show little interest in the details of how to attain their objectives presuppose that somebody else can make it happen for them. The reality is that you are as responsible for the details as you are for applying the big picture. Recently my interview with Scott Healy (keyboardist for Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien) confirmed this. I was impressed with his interest in all aspects of the music business. Since I’ve adapted his advice by paying attention to details and that the bigger your aspirations the more doing small details matter.
